More About Us

The club was officially opened by  Provost Stocks  over one hundreds years ago on Wednesday  27th. June 1894 and the starting membership totalled 92. The annual subscription then was a mere 10 shillings with a male only membership.  Equality took a firm hold in 1997 which broke the

discriminative stranglehold of over a century.

On the subject of 100 years, we celebrated our centenary in 1993 with John Urquhart being the

Centenary President and the only person in the clubs history to be President twice . John was

bestowed the rare and highly esteemed bearer of Honorary President in 1995 by the Management Committee. Alec W. Bell was elected as Honorary President in 1997 in recognition of his work for the club over many years.

The original clubhouse still remains after various alterations over the years, the current renovations  will see the  biggest facelift ever. The renovation plan will realise a new ladies locker area and

improved rest room facilities providing members with more space within the club house.

Club members with various skills will contribute towards the renovation and others helping where physical effort is required, reducing building costs significantly.

The club stands prominent in the town of Kirkcaldy, it's picturesque location situated within and

blending well in a residential area. The grounds and gardens which are constantly maintained by members are the envy of visiting teams who frequent the club  throughout the season.

Today,  technology play an important part of this club and are used to ensure the bowling green is maintained to it's best condition. We have an automatic sprinkler system under computerised

control to ensure even watering during dry spells and have available the latest green maintenance equipment such as frozen water-jet system used for breaking up solid layers deep under ground.  The renovation will also bring in the use of a custom designed climatic control system which will control the temperature of seperate areas of the club independently and efficiently.

During the winter months, the club social committee organise various functions for the enjoyment of members and friends, bringing in much needed funds towards the running of the club and it's bowling events.

Several local companies support the club as sponsors, they are highlighted in our sponsors page. They provide funding for events during the bowling season and bring together members of various clubs within the Fife area, participating in tournaments which are played mainly on Sundays.

We currently have several vacancies remaining for new members, if you like to be part of a successful and progressive bowling club, please write or Email us
